The Build - Stage 14 Sheet Rock

The next step is sheet rock!  I am super excited to see the rooms with walls!

We had to make sure the Attic was fully insulated before SheetRoc was all the way done

Sheetroc is an important part of creating the finished product we see on the interior of our homes.

Sheetroc is a half-inch material that you screw into the framing boards of each wall.  Almost every piece needed to be cut, so that it would fit exactly. We used a special tool (similar to a nail gun), but it used clips of screws instead of nails.  It reminds me of a semi-automatic pistol.  (It is now one of my favorite tools!)

Once the sheetroc was done, it felt strange to not be able to see across the house.  We had to cut out holes for every electrical box and light fixture. After the sheetroc is hung, it is time to tape it, plaster mud over all of the seems.  It is then sanded and more mud is applied to the wall and ceiling to create texture.
